Volume 1: Sweet Tooth goes on sale this month!

About Lateness

Hi everyone. I’ve been really battling with myself for a couple weeks over whether or not to make this post, but I must. I honestly do not mean to incite pity; I think any resulting anger towards me will be completely justified. Regardless, I’ll give some explanation.

There are a handful of artists who have not received their free physical copies yet as well as 8 or so orders that are not yet processed. I would just like to let you know that all your items will come in due time and anything ordered before “sold out” signs appeared are in stock.

There have been some truly hellish things going on in my household that have left me with virtually no money and I simply had to dip into zine funds. For one, we are $2,000 short on living expenses every month. A drug dealer threatened to assault my sister unless I made good on unpaid heroin. A tooth infection began to poison me, swelling up my neck and causing migraines and this required emergency extraction. I dedicated an entire month to producing prints for a convention only to make enough for a mere week and a half of groceries.

All of this is just some of the worst among other things and trying to deal with it while my lifetime of untreated depression and anxiety is at an all-time bad after failed suicide plans doesn’t help! I’m sure many people will think them poor excuses, and I suppose that’s right. There is no excuse for not mailing these last few issues and prints on time and I am truly sorry for my unprofessionalism. Hopefully you can understand why I am having a hell of a time giving this project the attention it deserves.

I don’t have any intentions of quitting because running this zine gives me hope for my future and it is the only truly rewarding experience I’ve had in years. However, it unfortunately can’t be on the forefront of my priorities right now. I’ll still try to have the Indiegogo campaign ready by April.

So, with all this being said, I would greatly appreciate if the remaining artists and customers could hang on until the end of May, when I will definitely have funds.

However, anyone who can’t or won’t wait is totally free to send an email asking for it now and I’ll do whatever I can to get it to you.

Thanks for reading and for your continued support.

The Indiegogo campaign will be up sometime this month. I ask for everyone’s patience and that you refrain from going into the final stages of your submission at this time, because guidelines such as color and page size are liable to change. Thanks!

Want to help with a Milky Blood Indiegogo campaign?

Hello everyone. You may have noticed a delay in updates. Why? Because I’m working on figuring out an Indiegogo campaign for the next issue!! I’m using that instead of Kickstarter because then any funds raised can still be used to print an improved book instead of disappearing!

This isn’t the application for the store (although items made for the campaign could certainly appear there if you want to work something out!). But if you are interested in creating guro artwork for use on different items in the campaign, please fill out this form and email it to milkybloodzine@gmail.com.

Nothing is set in stone so I can’t give you any monetary figures yet, but some product ideas I have for the campaign are prints (of course), stickers, shirts, makeup/pencil bags, etc. You will be compensated although people willing to volunteer their art are highly welcome!

Please write “Indiegogo Art App” in the email subject.

““You don’t come off as the type to be into this sorta thing, doc,” the brothel owner spoke to the man behind him.

It’s truly remarkable what deception an endearing and well-groomed countenance can provide man with. It is a blessing that God not visibly mark us for the particularly morbid fascinations our minds conceal,’ Dr. Baker replied.

MILKY BLOOD Revamp / Artist, Author, Shop Applications

Okay, so in light of being told that the extent of my presence on the zine blog/shop is self-indulgent, I feel bad. Now, from talking with friends and a few messages I’ve received, it seems like that’s not the popular conception of me, but obviously at least one person was bothered enough to call me out, so I’m sure there are others. It would be plain rude not to make any changes. To show my dedication to using the zine as a platform for the guro art community, not myself, I’m going to re-work the zine in a way that gives my own art essentially zero a less dominant visible presence. I will still have control over published content, so everything is cohesive.

Is there a way to buy the zine without creating a storenvy account? And I take it it's only available for purchase through paypal? — Anonymous

Paypal is preferred if you can’t purchase on Storenvy, but I’m fine with accepting checks/concealed cash if you’re willing to risk mailing them. You can email milkybloodzine@gmail.com with what you’d like to order and we can discuss more from there!

Answers to some other common questions:

I’ll open new submissions in early February. It will be announced and labeled clearly on the blog, so don’t worry.

New and improved instructions will be up by then as well. Thanks for being patient.

The theme of issue 2 is…

…monster boys and girls!

The next thing to decide is whether we want a full-color book (it would require a modest $4 price increase because color printing is literally twice as expensive) or a slightly longer grayscale one.

Any thoughts? I’m leaning towards color at the moment.

Pre-orders are now closed.

I am hard at work getting shipping labels printed and sealing all your packages! :D Regular orders will be up in the store once I’m able to take inventory later tonight.

I might need to mail out pre-orders in 2 waves, but it’s unlikely.

Thank you so much to all artists and readers! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
